Welcome to the British Columbia Maritime Employers Association (BCMEA) Negotiations website where we will share updates regarding renewal of the two coastwide collective agreements with the International Longshore & Warehouse Union Canada (ILWU) on behalf of the Longshore Locals and Local 514 Ship & Dock Foremen. These agreements cover wages, benefits, hours of work, and employment conditions for over 7,400 longshore workers and foremen at Canada’s West Coast ports. The latest agreements expired on March 31, 2023.
A four year collective agreement with the BCMEA and the ILWU Longshore Locals was reached on August 4, 2023. The negotiations for the collective agreement with the BCMEA and ILWU Local 514 Ship & Dock Foremen are ongoing.
The British Columbia Maritime Employers Association represents 49 of B.C.’s private sector waterfront employers and operators who directly provide family-supporting jobs to more than 9,400 workers at B.C. ports.
